  • American Bankruptcy Institute - Comprehensive information about legislative news related to bankruptcy, bankruptcy statistics, judges' opinions, bankruptcy code and analysis. ABI is "the nation's largest multi-disciplinary, non-partisan organization dedicated to research and education on matters related to insolvency." ABI publishes a newsletter 10 times per year, distributed to ABI members.
  • Findlaw's bankruptcy page has links to many internet bankruptcy resources.
  • New Generation Research's Bankruptcy Yearbook & Almanac contains data about bankruptcy filings, corporate statistics and more. Some information in the publication is available on site. Also see BankruptcyData.com.
  • BankruptcySales.com allows trustees and debtors to post listings of assets being offered for sale.
  • Bernstein's Dictionary of Bankruptcy Terminology published by Attorneys at Law Bernstein Bernstein Krawec & Wymard, P.C.
  • BNA's Bankruptcy Law Reporter is a weekly publication whose editorial aim is to "follow every significant change in bankruptcy law today; apply current case strategies and theories to your practice; keep up-to-date with pertinent legislative and regulatory actions; assess the value and strength of your cases; and put significant developments into perspective and determine what they mean for your practice." The weekly newsletter is available on a subscription basis, and their website has a sample publication for you to view.

Bankruptcy Organizations, Committees and Discussion Groups

  • National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, Inc. is an organization of attorneys representing mostly debtors. Their site contains information about their organization and cases of interest.
  • The Commercial Law League of America claims to be America's oldest creditors' rights organization. Their site contains a special update on the final report of the Bankruptcy Review Commission and other bankruptcy info.
  • Bankruptcy Roundtable is an e-mail discussion group for bankruptcy attorneys to exchange information and ideas. To be added to this group, simply send an e-mail message to listserve@bankrupt.com with "subscribe roundtable", without the quotes, in the message. This discussion group is not for debtors.
  • Bankruptcy ListServe is another e-mail discussion group, and is a very good resource for bankruptcy attorneys. To subscribe to this group, simply send an e-mail message to listproc@polecat.law.indiana.edu with "subscribe bankrlaw", without the quotes, in the message. This discussion group is not for debtors.
  • The U.S. Trustee Program is part of the Department of Justice, and oversees administration of bankruptcy cases. Their site contains information about the U.S. Trustee program and the bankruptcy system.
  • The National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees is a non-profit organization created to "address the needs of the bankruptcy trustees throughout the country and to promote the effectiveness of the bankruptcy system as a whole." Their site contains information about their organization, news of upcoming seminars, links to legislative information about bankruptcy, and a listserv and library for members only.
  • The National Association of Chapter Thirteen Trustees is an organization "dedicated to promoting education and professionalism in the chapter thirteen bankruptcy community." Their site provides a forum for discussion of chapter thirteen issues and legislation and contains their newsletters in PDF format.
  • Business Bankruptcy Committee at ABA - A committee for the means of exchange of ideas among bankruptcy attorneys and judges.
  • The Office of the Standing Chapter Thirteen Trustee in Detroit contains news about upcoming seminars, a discussion group, and general information about chapter thirteen procedures.
  • The American Board of Certification certifies attorneys as specialists in business bankruptcy, consumer bankruptcy and creditors' rights law. It is a non-profit organization, sponsored by The American Bankruptcy Institute and The Commercial Law League of America, dedicated to serving the public and improving the quality of bankruptcy and creditors' rights law bars.
